10 Great Uses for Dryer Sheets

Almost everyone loves the way fresh dryer sheets smell coming out of the dryer. We pull the laundry out, and immediately bring the laundry to our nose for a sniff. With our eyes closed, and a slight sigh, we enjoy the fresh linen scent.

Dryer sheets have more uses that just tickling our noses with their delightful scent. While most uses involve using our noses, there may be one or two that surprise you. Read on to learn what you can do with dryer sheets in your daily life.

Dryer sheet use #1: Put a dryer sheet at the bottom of your kitchen wastebasket. This helps combat kitchen trash can odor problems. Replace once a week to keep the scent fresh.

Dryer sheet use #2: Put a dryer sheet in the bottom of the bathroom wastebasket. Not only will this fight wastebasket odor, but will keep your bathroom smelling clean and fresh.

Dryer sheet use #3: Put a dryer sheet in your children’s closets. This helps the fresh scent of their clothes last longer, and helps fight any odors that may linger. If you children have a habit of putting dirty laundry or old shoes in their closets, the odor may seep into the clean clothes hanging up. Dryer sheets are a great way to keep the bad odor out of the clean clothes.

Dryer sheet use #4: Place a dryer sheet under the front seat of your car. Bring that fresh scent into your car. Research shows that scents will affect our moods, so driving to and from work in a nice smelling car will help keeps us in better moods!

Dryer sheet use #5: Use dryer sheets to clean pots and pans. If you have stuck on food in your pots and pans, fill with warm water and place a dryer sheet in the pan. Come back in an hour and watch all the stuck on food come right off!

Dryer sheet use #6: Put a dryer sheet in your storage bins that store off season clothing. Fight off that smell clothes seem to get after being stored for months.

Dryer sheet use #7: Place a dryer sheet over your vents in your home. This works great if you have company coming during the winter or summer when you are apt to be running the air conditioning or the furnace. Clip on a fresh dryer sheet on a few of the vents (hidden ones are best to not give away your secret) and fill your home with a nice, pleasant aroma.

Dryer sheet use #8: Keep a dryer sheet in your gym bag, or your child’s gym/sports bag. Another place that can harbor odors, this is a wonderful way to battle that dreaded gym bag smell. Replace as often as needed.

Dryer sheet use #9: Soak your coffee pot to get rid of coffee stains. Coffee pots are easily stained by repeated coffee making. Take your coffee pot, soak with warm water and a dryer sheet, just like you did your pots and pans. Wait an hour or two, and come back to scrub. Be sure to clean very well so as not to have any of that dryer sheet taste enter your morning coffee!

Dryer sheet use #10: Tuck a dryer sheet in your pillowcase to enjoy the fresh scent all night long and help you relax.

Dryer sheet uses are endless. There are many scents available to purchase, so take a minute and find a scent that appeals to you. Remember, fruity scents provide us with more energy, so be careful if this is what you choose to put in your pillowcase at night.
