American Idol: Season Five

Can you believe it? It is the fifth season of American Idol. American Idol is a highly rated reality and talent type show on the Fox Network. American Idol each season sets out to find the next American Idol singing sensation. It starts with seeing almost everyone who shows up to tryout. And the best is weeded out from the worst by the judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. After this is over it is time for America to make their choice each week of who goes home and who stays to compete to be the next American Idol.

American idol has discovered Kelly Clarkson the first American Idol and on February 6th, 2006 she got two Grammy wins, Ruben Studdard the season two winner and in 2004 had the No. 1 title on the Top Gospel Albums Chart, Fantasia Barrino’s season 3 winner whose first single sold 144,000 copies its first week, and Carrie Underwood season four winner and my favorite Carrie got a recording contract with Nashville Recording studios and in 2005 received these awards from Billboard Music Awards, Top-Selling Hot 100 Song of the Year, Country Single Sales Artist of the Year and Top-Selling Country Single of the Year.

We can’t forget Clay Aiken prior to the start of season five, Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe revealed for the first time that Aiken had led the fan voting every week from the Wild Card week onward until the finale, when the possibly-random voting result gave Studdard the win. Though officially Aiken was the show’s “first runner-up” he has since gone on to be the second season’s best-selling star.

Now the Fifth season is underway and seems to be shaping up to possibly be the one the best talent. I predict that even though there can only be one American Idol winner, there could be at least three to four other contestants this year that will go on to have a great singing career and be American Idols also.

The week of Feb 27th is the start of competitions for 20 American Idol wannabe’s to compete to be the next American Idol. Those left in the competition are Ayla Brown, Ace Young, Brenna Gethers, Heather Cox, Bucky Covington, Chris Daughtry, Katherine McPhee, Kelly Pickler, David Radford, Elliot Yamia, Kinnik Sky, Lisa Tucker, Gedeon Mckinney, Jose Perala, Mandisa, Melissa McGhee, Kevin Covais, Paris Bennett, Taylor Hicks and Will Makar.

Last week we said goodbye to Becky O’Donohue, Bobby Bennett, Patrick hall and Stevie Scott.

I predict that Brenna Gethers will be going home within the next two weeks. Brenna just doesn’t have the likeability factor that the judges talk about. America doesn’t like someone who thinks they can never do any thing wrong. Plus her constant posing for the camera is nerve racking at best. On top of this I just don’t feel she sings that great. There are so many way above her and they don’t go around acting like they are the best when clearly she isn’t.

I predict the final four will consist of Ace Young, he is so good-looking, he has the eyes to make the girls swoon and the guys want to be like him. All top of this he also has a terrific take your breath away voice.

Then there is Taylor Hicks, he may not have the looks Ace does but he can sing like no one else on the show. He can entertain us to with his dancing and moving antics, Taylor is truly unique to the show.

I think the other two will be girls, and it will be Lisa Tucker, this 16 year old girl can sing way beyond her years. Paris Bennett has the energy and the voice to entertain us for a long time to come.

The winner of American Idol Season five is anyone’s guess. The talent is so great this season there is no way I would try and predict the #1 winner but, I will say this no matter which one wins these 4 will be at the top and the other 3 who do not win will still make it and receive recording contracts. American Idol this year really has at least 4 American Idols.

American Idol airs on the fox network on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights at 8pm EST.
