Baby’s First Halloween Costume Ideas

My son Lucas will be six months come October 13, and the thought and we have been thinking a lot about what to do for his first Halloween. He may not be able to walk yet, but we still want to dress him up and take him trick or treating. The first thought we had in regards to a costume was the all-popular pumpkin idea. Well, that just seems a little too typical for a first costume in our opinion. We have also been tight with the budget lately, so whatever we do will have to be rather inexpensive. After some brainstorming this is what my husband and I came up with:

1)Cartoon Movie Character: Abu from Aladdin, Simba from The Lion King, or Catepillar from Alice in Wonderland

2)Sesame Street Character

3)Winnie-the-Pooh Character

4)Sponge Bob Square Pants

5)Blue’s Clues

6)Mickey Mouse

7)Barney

8)Teletubby

9)A Puppy

10)A Dinosaur

With cost in mind we decided with Winter approaching the best choice would be getting Lucas a pair of pajama feet and doubling it for his halloween costume with slight alterations. This way, it will get more than just one use.

After some consideration, the Winnie-the-Pooh characters, and teletubby ideas seemed to fit this approach the best. It wouldn’t be too hard to find pajama feet the color of Pooh, and I could easily make ears for him on a same-colored hat.

Afterwards, we went online to check out if any of these costumes were available for purchase. Not surprisingly, some of our thoughts turned out to be quite popular like Winnie-the-Pooh. We have yet to decide what we will be dressing him up as, but it’s wonderful to have a variety of ideas to choose from.

These sites also gave us additional ideas to consider. Some of the costumes could even double as pajama feet for winter instead of the other way around, so we may not need to improvise. Visit the sites provided for even more costume ideas.

If you’re experiencing your Baby’s first halloween just as we are, congratulations, and have fun!
