Beach Reads for Ski Bums

Are you one of those unusual people who can’t wait for winter? Do you prefer a ski tan to a beach tan? One option is to take a summer ski trip to South America. But wait, that’s expensive. When you can’t get to the slopes, there’s nothing like a good novel that takes place at a ski locale. Although they may be hard to find, ski themes can be found in most genres.

Chick Lit

L’Affaire by Diane Johnson

When publisher Adrian Venn is killed in an avalanche, Amy pays to have him sent back to his native England. Her humanitarian gesture backfires. Venn’s two grown English children, his illegitimate French daughter, his new, much younger American wife and their infant son become entangled in a classic scenario of quarreling heirs. Johnson’s modern comedy of manners is reminiscent of Noel Coward. The cultural clashes between the Brits, French and an airy chick from L.A. make for fun reading.
