Best Senior Housing in the Tacoma, WA Area

Some of the best senior housing in the Tacoma, Washington area consist of independent to assisted living facilities. Depending on what you seek, and your preferred location, it’s nice knowing the variety available.

Located between Tacoma and Olympia is a city known as DuPont. It is called this due to the area being developed by DuPont Corporation. Overall, this entire area is new within the past couple years. Of course, everything is beautifully landscaped, bright and shiny clean, with an assortment of retail offerings. There even is a hotel. There also is an excellent senior housing community here called Patriots Landing.

Patriots Landing is geared towards the retired military population and their spouses. This senior housing facility offers both independent living and assisted living services. Independent living residents have a choice of living in cottages, duplexes, or apartments. There is a strong sense of community here, which I find very appealing. The campus is fun to walk around and meet residents. I have shared many an enjoyable afternoon visiting those that used to be strangers! Amenities include a walking trail, kids’ play area, and putting course. Plus, there is an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, beauty salon, etc. Woohoo!

The campus location is near local military bases, to help the military retirees. McChord Air Force Base and Fort Lewis are nearby.

The building itself looks like a large mansion, with impeccable landscaping and maintenance. It is off the traveled road, yet has great signage directing one to it. There is ample parking.

Walk inside the front door, and you see a receptionist who greets you very warmly. The lobby is very spacious and has a staircase leading upstairs. At the top of the staircase is a beautiful crystal chandelier. It is quite a pleasant site! The administrative offices are on the first level. The assisted living section is also on the first floor.

Straight ahead is the dining area, which contains a baby grand piano by the entrance. The windows along one side of the area, provide for much natural light. The atmosphere reminded me of a classy restaurant. In fact, residents and visitors can either order off the menu or go with the meal special. Each time I have eaten here, it has been delicious.

What I like about this senior housing community near Tacoma, Washington is the fact that there are no buy-in requirements. Nor are there any lifetime fees.

I have been going to Patriot’s Landing on a regular basis since they opened. I have received only the best service every time I have gone. This senior housing facility is top notch, bar none.

Another senior housing facility in the Tacoma, Washington area that I consider in the “best” category is found at ‘Bridgeport Place’. Located in the city of University Place, this senior housing facility is just down the street from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. It is easily accessible on Bridgeport Way. In fact, Jackson Avenue is the exit off of Highway 16 that turns into Bridgeport Way. How easy is that?

Anyways, residents here reside in apartments in a very architecturally appealing building. There is parking in front and alongside of the building. The grounds are well maintained, with the street signage being very easy to read.

Inside, the lobby is inviting and airy. There are cookies and coffee available for visitors and residents. (The cookies are always scrumptious!) The dining area is pleasant, with plenty of natural light to boot. Plus, there is a warm fireplace, if needed.

The many times I have been here, I have experienced very compassionate, helpful, and friendly service. I have seen very happy residents, also.

There are many more senior housing options available throughout the Tacoma, Washington area. Patriots Landing (with their strong sense of military community and campus) and Bridgeport Place (with their excellent location and smiling residents) happen to be my two favorites.
