Bissell SpotLifter Works Wonders

I have one major rule in my household: NO EATING IN THE BEDROOM!!! It drives me crazy. I hate when the bedroom smells like food. Well, I broke my own rule tonight, and I really paid for it. I brought my BLT and bottle of blue Gatorade upstairs, made myself comfortable on the bed and prepared to watch my soap operas from the day. The phone rang, and I was distracted. I spoke with my friend, then grabbed my bottle of bright blue Gatorade and shook it. I didn’t realize that I had opened the bottle while I was on the phone.

Blue liquid went everywhere. Not only did it get all over me and the bed, but it went all over the cream-colored carpet we have in the bedroom. This is a perfect example as to why I hate people eating in the bedroom.

I dabbed the liquid up as best I could, changed my clothes, and put the sheets and duvet cover in the washing machine. I then called my darling husband to ask him how to use the Bissell SpotLifter. You see, Craig is the gadget man in the house. (Heh. He’s a cop, too. Does that make him Inspector Gadget? BWAHAHAHAHA! Okay, I digress…) Of course, I had to tell him my Gatorade story.

After he was done laughing, he told me how to use the Bissell SpotLifter. It is surprisingly easy. First, you point the SpotLifter toward the spot. Give the trigger a few pulls to douse the spot with the cleaning fluid. When you have done that, flip the switch. This will activate the two brush rods under the SpotLifter. Run the SpotLifter over the spots a few times. Then, tilt the SpotLifter to suck up the cleaning fluid and leftover spot residue. The carpet will still be damp, but it will also be clean.

I noticed that the cleaning fluid that came with the Bissell SpotLifter wasn’t very powerful. Parts of the carpet was still light blue. So, I sprayed it with my handy-dandy bottle of Simply WoW and spritzed the stains. I let it soak for a little, then repeated the steps with the SpotLifter. Guess what? The spot was gone! As a matter of fact, the carpet was cleaned so well, I think it looks cleaner than anywhere else in the room. I just might have to clean the whole darned carpet this way!

The Bissell SpotLifter is really light. So light, in fact, that a child could use it. This is a great way to get kids to clean up their own messes — stains from grape juice on the living room carpet, for instance. I even found it fun to use! I was amazed at how this little gadget packed such a punch.

Speaking of little, it is easy to store. It would fit on a shelf in your linen closet, or even under your sink. We keep ours in the spare bedroom closet, on the top of the rack. It is very portable.

Another convenient feature is the long cord that it comes with. And there is no annoying peg to wrap the cord around when you are finished. You simply fold the cord up, then hold it together with the Velcro strap that it comes with.

The Bissell SpotLifter is my new favorite household gadget. It is easy to use, light and durable. At the price of just $50, every household should have one!
