Buying Clothing for Hard to Fit Girls

With the growing problem of children with ever expanding waistlines, so comes the problem of children who have a hard time fitting in off the rack clothing. It can be a challenge buying clothing for hard to fit girls. Girls, especially those have round tummies and thick legs, end up in clothes that are either too tight or too long. Use these tips to give your hard to fit daughter’s great, stylish wardrobes.

âÂ?¢ Some department stores like JC Penney and Macy’s now sell plus size or husky clothing in the children’s department. There is not a great deal of variety, but it is a good place to start.

âÂ?¢ Tops and Jackets from the Jr. and Petite departments will fit young girl when children’s clothing just will not work. Look for three quarter sleeves if you find normal sleeves are too long, and take up tops in the shoulder area as needed.

� Skirts are the best way to go with these girls, as jeans that fit will probably be too long. If you must have jeans, however, purchase Capri length. Fold a cuff into the Capri pants so they will not look like high waters.

� Finding dresses for a 10-year-old girl who a size 12-14 dress does not look good on may be difficult. You will get the most flattering results by purchasing a Ladies petite or Jr dress. Look for simple dresses that do not accentuate the bust. Have the dress taken in at the shoulders. You can also have it taken in under the arm and in the bust if necessary. Add ribbons and bows to the waist or lace trim to the hem to make the dress look more youthful.

Since alteration can be costly, you can save money by purchasing the clothing at discount warehouses, and even getting items with minor defects. Save the bulk of your clothing budget for alteration and accessories. If you find a high quality item, try to make minimum alterations or alterations you can undo so the item will still fit as your child grows.
