For an absolutely incredible camping experience, you must visit Cayo Costa State Park. Located directly south of Boca Grande, Florida, Cayo Costa State Park is a barrier island. You can only reach Cayo Costa State Park by ferry or private boat, which adds to its allure. This incredible barrier island is breathtaking with its natural wildlife, gulf shores, mangroves, and beautiful Florida sunsets. Cayo Costa State Park is home to 71/2 miles of luxurious Florida beach and has 5 �½ miles of hiking trails. The island is virtually uninhabited by man and is a reflection of natural Florida at its finest.
To plan your camping excursion on Cayo Costa State Park, you must carefully plan all of your essentials ahead of time, since there are no stores or shopping plazas conveniently located. Once you are on the island, you are at one with the wildlife, the ocean, and your surroundings.
The Park is well known for it’s vast amount of shells, fish, and exotic animal life. While camping at Cayo Costa State Park, you may expect to see manatees, dolphins, and an abundant amount of various bird species. If you are an avid birdwatcher you may see Black Skimmers, Osprey, Pelicans, Bald Eagles, Long Billed Curlews, Oystercatchers, and more.
Camping at Cayo Costa State Park is for the seasoned camper who doesn’t shy away from a primitive environment.
The only access to and from the park is by ferry or private boat. Cabins are available, but they do not have electricity. The cabins are equipped with three bunkbeds and a table. They do have bathrooms and showers and also provide grills for cooking.
You must make ferry reservations ahead of time. You can make your ferry reservations by calling Tropic Star of Pine Island at 239-283-0015. The fee for tent camping is $18.00 per night, and the fee for cabin camping is $22.93.
