Celebrity Christianity is Not the Church that Christ Built

Calls for boycotts, and petitions to remove preachers of LA, from the Oxygen network, have not as of yet been effective. Although many within the body of Christ are against celebrity Christianity, the show is a hit. Christ Himself said that His follower were not to conform to the world, yet it seems mainstream Christianity is doing just that.

How is knowing that these men drive Bentley’s, live in mansions, and wear Armani suits, leading anyone to salvation, or helping their spiritual walk? How does mainstream society benefit, from knowing about the preachers sex lives, or the lack there of?

Jesus said we should look out for the least among us, yet those who are suppose to be following His example have taken a turn away from this principle. Instead of giving to the poor and needy, church folk are being trained to give their money to the greedy pastors, who are already millionaires.

Christ offers the free gift of salvation. He told His disciples that because they had freely received, (from Him), they should freely give.If however you watch Christian television for any length of time, you will see that the gospel is for sale.

Televangelists in designer suits, and manicured nails, offer for sale, books and CD’s that supposedly, were directed by the Holy Spirit. If someone does not have the $75.00-$200.00 or more seed offering, then they miss out on the so called revelation from heaven.

I recently heard Paul Crouch Jr., George Bloomer, and Lexie on the Word Network tell women in the viewing audience that instead of getting their hair done, or buying designer bags, they should give $58.00 to help the Word network expand. This same technique was also used on the Daystar channel. Trying to force people to give to your cause, is nothing more than witchcraft and manipulation.

Within the last few months I have viewed countless “Christian” programming, where the viewers are told if they want a miracle, they must sow a seed. My bible does not have any scripture that indicates that Jesus sold one blessing.

People are getting caught up in the celebrity status, bling and sex lives of those who are being called mega church pastors, and gospel superstars. This has the focus on material possessions, and human beings, instead of spiritual matters.

Christ Himself said in Matthew 16:18, that upon the rock, or foundation that He was the Son of the living God, He would build His church, and the gates of hell would not prevail. In my opinion, the shenanigans going in in His Name today, are on shaky ground, and going to cause somebody to bust hell wide open. Just another way that witchcraft has infiltrated the Christian church.
