Every household has them: empty toilet paper rolls! This little cardboard tube can be used in all kinds of crafts. Because it is already a necessity in your home it cuts down on craft supply costs. Also, by reusing this discarded paper product, you are helping reduce land field waste!

T.P. Bird Feeder

You will need: an empty T.P. roll, creamy peanut butter, butter knife, yarn or fishing line, bird seed, a plate and a pencil.

With the pencil, poke two holes in one end of the toilet paper roll. Cut a six inch length of yarn or fishing line, thread it through the holes and tie a knot. This makes the hanger. Spread the peanut butter all over the outside of the T.P. roll. Pour ½ to 1 full cup of bird seed in the plate. Roll the peanut butter covered tube in the bird seed until the entire surface is covered in seed. Hang your feeder in a tree and watch the birds come for their treat!

T.P. Maracas

Cut out two- three inch circumference circles from the cloth. Cover one end of the T.P. roll with one cloth circle and wrap a rubber band around the cloth to secure it to the roll. Use the hot glue gun to seal the cloth to the card board. Pour in 1/3 cup of dried beans and cover the other end of the T.P. roll with the other cloth circle. Seal with glue gun. Once the hot glue has dried you can decorate the maraca however you would like. Make several maracas and start a band!

These make great mother’s day gifts and table centerpieces.
