There are so many effects that you can apply to images in Adobe Photoshop. In this guide I will show you how to create some of those effects. In this guide we will cover the following:

So let’s begin…

Creating an Embossed Photo

Step 2 – Open the image that you want to use.

Step 3 – At the top of your Photoshop window click Image > Adjustments > Desaturate. This will turn your image gray.

Step 4 – In your Layers Panel, right click on the layer and click Duplicate Layer. You can name it what you like.

Step 5 – At the top of your Photoshop window click Image > Adjustments > Invert.

Step 6 – In your Layers Panel select the second layer and lower the Opacity to 50%. This will turn your image gray.

Step 7 – In your tools panel click on the Move Tool arrow.

Step 8 – On your keyboard, click the down arrow key one time, then click the right arrow key.

And that’s it. You have an Embossed Photo. See Image 1

Step 5 – Draw a Square or Rectangle over your image. Make sure you leave enough room for the edges to blur though.

Step 6 – In the top of your Photoshop window click on Select > Feather and set it at 10 pixels. Once you’re done, click OK.

Step 7 – On your Keyboard, press CTRL + Shift + I. That will select the outside of the photo.

Step 8 – Press Delete on your keyboard.
