Denver’s Opera Colorado

Opera is alive in Denver, Colorado with many varieties of opera stories and journeys you can choose from. Come and discover this extraordinary opera world of Denver, Colorado at the Opera Colorado House.

Opera Colorado is located at 695 S. Colorado Blvd., #20, Denver, CO 80246 and stages three operas each season at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The usual schedule at the Opera Colorado is three evening performances and one afternoon performance each week from February to May and will be featuring the Madama Butterfly by the famous Puccini, The Pearl Fishers by Bizet, and the Cosi Fan Tutte by Mozart.

Puccini’s Madama Butterfly takes place November 8 through the 16 of 2008. Its plot is around the early 20th century Japan with Puccini’s tale of devotion and honor of a young Japanese girl Butterfly who is a Japanese bride of Naval officer Pinkerton. To be with her husband Pinkerton, Butterfly scarifies her devotion to her family and culture.

Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers take place February 14 through the 22 of 2009. In Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers, Fisherman Zurga and Nadir who is a hunter have promised each other to avoid the priestess (a foreign woman of pagan gods) who came between them years ago. However, when the priestess comes back, Nadir and the woman with the pagan gods come together to embrace their passionate love which will result in her dishonoring her vows as a priestess and sabotaging Nadir and Zurga’s relationship. When the priestess and Nadir love affair is discovered, they are sentences to death but are saved by Nadir friend Zurga.

Mozart’s CosÃ?¬ Fan Tutte begins April 25 through May 3, 2009. Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte is about Ferrando and Gulielmo who are young officers who have made a childish bet with the pessimistic Don Alfonso that the two sisters they will marry will be faithful to them.

Tickets for these opera classics vary depending on seating. The Patrerre Raised Seating at Rear of Orch range from $86.00 to $157.00, Orchestra Seating range from $105.00 to $157.00, the Mezzanine Seating (2nd level) range from $66.00 to $86.00, the Loge Seating ( 3rd level) range from $66.00 to $86.00 and the Balcony Seating ( 4th level) range from $29.00 to $66.00.
