Eliminate Surgery for Gallstones with Alternative Treatments

The gallstone is a pear-shaped organ that stores liquid produced by the liver for digesting fats. Gallstones happen when this liquid or bile becomes too concentrated in the gallbladder resulting in hard, crystal stones. Gallstones can be very small or as large as a golf ball, there also can be multiple stones. Gallstones irritate the gallbladder ducts causing swelling and inflammation. Some gallstones don’t cause any symptoms but others cause sharp pains under the ribs on the right side. Gallstones can also cause pain under the right shoulder, nausea, and vomiting.

The most effective solution for gallstone problems according to traditional medicine is to have surgery to remove them. However, according to many alternative doctors surgery is unnecessary in most of cases. People can get the same outcome from the surgery with alternative treatments. Using alternative treatments can help eliminate the side effects of surgery to remove gallstones that include pain and possible damage to the liver and pancreas.

Those who have small or medium sized gallstones should consider these following alternative treatments to safely eliminate the need for surgery for gallstones. However, alternative treatments don’t eliminate gallstones but the treatments help to prevent gallstones from growing and/or multiplying, and causing swelling in the duct.

To help eliminate the need for surgery for gallstones, change your diet. Like many other health conditions, a low-fat, high-fiber diet can help to eliminate the need for gallstone surgery because the bile or liquid will be less concentrated, making the stones less likely to develop, and fiber helps regulate the digestive system. Reduce the amount of fat in your diet, this means saturated fat, not fatty acids. Fatty acids are a definite must for any diet. Fatty acids are found in nuts, seeds, and omega-3 foods such as fish, flaxseed oil, and olive oil. An easy way to increase your intake of fatty acids is to eliminate cooking with vegetable oil or shortening and cook foods with olive oil, canola or sunflower oil. You can also take fatty acid supplements if you don’t care for fish or are allergic to nuts.

Reduce the amount of sugar in your diet because sugar can agitate the gallbladder ducts and drink more water. Water is good for your body and helps to normalize the bile and eliminate the hardening build up that forms stones. Drink at least 64 ounces of water everyday, but try to drink more. The last alternative treatment that can help eliminate the need for surgery for gallstones is milk thistle. Milk thistle is good for the liver and can help reduce cholesterol levels in the bile preventing it from becoming hardened. Take 600 mgs of milk thistle extract a day with 70-80 percent of the ingredient, silymarin.
