are amazingly accessible. But they are, and can be a nice contrast to city life. Here are a few good stables, where lessons are fun and thorough, and the animals are well taken care of.

This stable focuses mainly on English riding and training, and is considered to be at the top of their specialty in the state of Washington. Horses and instructors are available for beginning and advanced riders. Trainers can teach you ring riding, dressage, and show jumping over five foot fences. Horse breeds include ponies, Arabs, Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, and Miniatures. This is a fun and informative way to learn about the more career oriented side of equestrian, as well as the opportunity to take it to a performance level.

Whether you are looking to take lessons, or need a place to board your horse or have it trained, Black Raven Stables is equipped for every element of equine care. Located just 30 minutes north of Seattle by taking I-5 to the town of Arlington, it is a convenient locale to get out of the city and take lessons. The animals are well trained and safe, and the instructors are patient, kind, and experienced. They will work with riders of every level of experience, including those with none at all. The most important thing is developing a love for what you are doing, and a love for the animal that you are riding.
Cascade Stables, 38120 192nd Avenue SE, WA, Call (253)833-4487- Located in the Washington countryside between Enumclaw and Auburn, Cascade Stables is a great place to learn riding in a casual, fun, and safe manner. They specialize in trail riding, western, and English styles. This is a riding and a training facility, with the necessary round pens to get familiar with the horses, as well as an indoor and outdoor arena. Trail riding will take you through some beautiful country, near rivers and through forests. Horse boarding for any breed is also welcomed here, if you get completely hooked, but understandably can’t fit a horse into your apartmentÃ¢Â?Â¦

This is one of the closest stables you’ll find to Seattle, just a few minutes north in the neighboring town of Bothell. It is a large, full service stable, that provides boarding, training, and instruction. There are outdoor pastures, as well as a full sized arena for riding, training, and longing. Professional horsewoman Sheryl Butler trains all students, and works with any level. Under her guidance, you will quickly become comfortable with the animals, or broaden the skills that you already have. She also instructs dressage and jumping. The tack is English style, and the breeds of horses at the stable include Appaloosa, Arab, Quarter Horse, and Thoroughbred. You’ll enjoy learning to ride in the beautiful North Seattle countryside, and still be less than 15 minutes or so from home.
