Five Healthy Snacks that Kids Love!!!

If there is any one thing that children ask for the most it is a snack. Children a growing at such a fast rate that they truly are always hungry. Children are hungry because their bodies need nutrition and energy to grow. Handing them a snack that is healthy helps them to grow. Junk food does not. Junk food is full of empty calories. It may fill their bodies, but it is not doing their bodies any good. Here are five great snacks that are healthy. Kids just love them 🙂

Snack One…
Cheese and crackers. There are many varieties of whole grain and whole wheat crackers available. Ones of the five major food groups is the grains group. A serving of a grain crackers equals a serving of a food group. Slice up some cheddar or Monetary Jack cheese and make cracker sandwiches. Kids just love them, and adding the cheese adds another food group. Dairy.

Snack Two…
Fresh fruit. Slice up an apple and give your child a little dish of peanut butter to dip the slices into. Watch that apple disappear! Slice up a banana and put the slices into jell-O. Let it set and watch them gobble it up. Banana slices can also be placed into a bowl with a drizzle of chocolate syrup over the top. Kids love anything with chocolate! There are tons and tons of great ways to serve fresh fruit. You could even make a fruit salad!

Snack Three…
A bowl of dry cereal. Believe it or not, your child’s favorite cereal can double as a favorite snack too. Why? How? Because. Kids cereals are packed full of essential vitamins and minerals. In fact, a small bowl of dry cereal is probably more healthy than any snack you can find in the snack isle of your grocery store!

Snack Four…
A sandwich. When kids ask for a snack it’s because they are hungry. Why not feed them some solid food? One sandwich is a perfect amount for a snack. Peanut butter and jelly is a kids favorite. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich made with real fruit jam can give your child a serving from the grains group, the protein group, and the fruit group.

Snack Five…
Yogurt. Did you know that one in four children does not get enough calcium in their diet each day? It’s true that many kids don’t. Yogurt is a healthy snack that provides kids with a great taste, and that much needed calcium. Calcium is important for your child’s teeth and bones. Many ailments can arise due to lack of calcium.

So, the next time you hear the words “Can I have a snack please?” hand your child something healthy! Help them to grow strong and watch them gobble these great snacks right up 🙂
