For a design that is more whimsical than serious, consider this bright and fun glittered green star serving tray. This tray project would be an excellent basis for a festive gift idea when filled with baked goods, candies, or other sweet treats!

For this project, you will need:

– An unfinished wood serving tray (available at craft supply stores)

– Medium grit sandpaper

– Tack cloth or soft cloth

– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White

– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Emerald Green

– Krylon Glitter Spray in Glamorous Green

– Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Spray

– Green colored cardstock

– Pencil

– Star shaped stencil

– Self healing mat

– Craft knife

– Xyron machine fitted with a double sided adhesive cartridge

– Shallow pan

– Green glitter

– Hot glue gun and glue sticks

– Newspaper

Cover your work area with a few layers of old newspaper. Gently sand the unfinished wood serving tray with medium grit sandpaper. Use a tack cloth or other soft cloth to remove any excess dust on the surface of the wood. Spray the entire tray with a layer of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Dry for a half an hour before adding a second coat of primer. Dry for three to four hours.

Spray the wood tray with Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Emerald Green. Allow the green paint to set for an hour before adding a second coat. Let the tray dry overnight before proceeding.

Place a sheet of green cardstock onto the self healing mat. In pencil, trace the star shape from the stencil directly onto the paper. Cut out the shape with a craft knife. Run the star shape piece through an Xyron machine fitted with a double sided adhesive cartridge.

Remove the top layer of protective sheeting from the star shape. Set in a shallow pan and sprinkle the paper with a generous amount of green colored glitter. Shake of the excess glitter. Remove the back layer of protective sheeting from the shape. Heat up the hot glue gun and apply a bit of hot glue to the back of the shape. Press the shape firmly in the center of the green painted tray to adhere. Let the glue cool completely.

Spray the entire project with Krylon Glitter Spray in Emerald Green. Dry for three to four hours. Apply a generous layer of Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Spray. Let the tray dry overnight before using.
