You are embarking on your college career and federal grants just are not covering all your expenses, what do you do, where do you turn? It is at this point that you may want to consider a private student loan. There are many places for private student loans; however, you want to make sure that you start off with a reputable loan company who does not penalize you in the end. Every day we hear about former students who are in debt to student loans so badly that it adversely affects their credit. This is a trap you want to avoid. So where do you turn? There are many places students can go for a private loan. The standard is a Stafford loan and it is easily obtained. Most college finance offices will have information on this loan process. For others there are websites that can help you look but make sure that you do complete research on any student loan you consider. Some of the questions to ask are, what are their conditions for paying back the loan, what interest rate are they going to charge you, are there conditions for the loan such as class load and graduation dates, these are just some of the questions to ask. Most private student loans will have some type of condition.

Two places you may want to start in your quest for student cash are upromise.com and studentaid.ed.gov. These sites have suggestions for some private loans. If you don’t have access to the internet your local college financial aid office can usually help guide you in the right direction. Remember that these are loans however and not grants, they will have to be paid back so when you make your decision on how much to borrow and how to pay it back you will have to do some looking into the future for these answers. Your education is one of the most important things you will care for in life and is usually your first step forward, make sure that you take great care in taking that first step because the results, good or bad, can last you a lifetime.
