How to Decorate a Wedding Car

Decorating a wedding car for a friend or loved one is a must! It is one of the best parts of going to a wedding. Wedding car decoration is a tradition that embarrasses the bride & groom, but gives them a unique memory. If you can get “in” on decorating the wedding car, you can make sure that the bride and groom never forget it.

Every bride and groom wonders if the wedding car will be decorated. You don’t want to disappoint them. While some people decorate cars nicely, some are ruthless. It is important to take the feelings of the couple into account when deciding how to decorate, but it’s also a great excuse to push the limits (just a little bit)!

If you feel uncomfortable in pushing the limits too far, there are tasteful pre-made wedding banners that you can easily attach to the car. Streamers and balloons can also be attached for more coverage and excitement.

However, if you do want to have a little more fun, going to a party supply store is the perfect place to find all the items you need. Pick up some window paint – the kind you use when you are trying to sell your car. You’ll want something bright that stands out. You can always use red – the color of passion! You will use this to write various phrases on the windows when you are decorating the wedding vehicle. Be creative! Write something more than “Just Married” across the back window. Even making it a little racy is okay!

Streamers tied to the hubcaps are a nice addition, and will flow in the wind as the couple drives away. You can find float tassels and float fringe at many party supply stores, especially during holidays. Attaching these to the bottom of the wedding car is a comical way to spice it up. Traditionally people have tied soda cans to the underside of the vehicle to drag behind the car as it drives away. This is still something that is a lot of fun!

Of course, there are many ways you can get really crazy. Put Twinkies under the car handles so that when they open the door, they get a handful of cream. If you can get inside the car, even better! Balloons and glitter are great stuffers. Glitter will stick around for months, if not years, to come, reminding the wedding couple of that night for a long time. Hanging handcuffs, feathers or lingerie from the rear view mirror is a great way to embarrass the new couple, and encourage them to have fun that night.

Whatever you do, make sure to avoid ruining the vehicle. Almost anything goes in decorating the wedding car, but there are some hard and fast rules that you need to remember.
? Do not put anything abrasive on the paint of the car.
? Do not put anything in the gasoline tank.
? Do not obscure the driver’s side windshield with anything that cannot be easily removed.
? And last, but not least, remember to have fun, go crazy, and take a lot of pictures!
