How to Get Rid of Nasty Cooking Odors in Your Kitchen

I don’t know about you but I hate the bad odors that cooking can leave in your house. I cook a lot and I hate to admit that I love to fry hamburgers, chicken and other foods. I hate the odors that frying and cooking can leave lingering in your home.

There are many different methods that you can use to get rid of nasty kitchen cooking odors. I prefer the more green methods. I have tried using white vinegar in water, simmering it on the stove. It helps but then you have vinegar odors clinging to the air.

You can try burning aromatic candles, which does help the odor but doesn’t seem to do much but add the aroma of the candles that you are burning along with the nasty odors from cooking.

I have exhaust fans that help pull the cooking odors out of the air but it also pulls out the heat, which we desperately need in the house. The last thing that we want is to add stress to our heating bills. I don’t think that it seems to help that much either. I use the exhaust fan on the stove too but it doesn’t seem to help that much either.

I have tried using lemon juice that is reconstituted in water simmering on the stove. It did seem to help a little when all else failed. What I have found that seems to help more than anything is real lemon.

You can take a quartered lemon and go over your stovetop, counters and sink with it after wiping them down with clean soapy dish water. This will not only clean these areas but also make them smell fresh. You can then use the same lemon for removing nasty odors from the air.

When you are frying your favorite foods you can take the same lemon and put it in a saucepan and fill it three quarters full of water. Put your quartered lemon or more if you want in the water and allow it to simmer while you are frying your dinner. You can also use it when you are baking in your oven. Allow it to simmer on the top of your stove. If you forget to do this, you can always do it later. It will pull the nasty cooking odors from the air and leave the fresh smell of lemon lingering in the air. It will make your house smell fresh and clean.

If you burn anything in your oven or while cooking this is an excellent idea to help rid your home of the burning odor. You can simmer lemons several times until you are satisfied that you have removed all the bad odors from your home. It also works well in your microwave.
