established in 1971,

is a non profit organizations run by volunteers, which aims to foster relations between local community and international students and scholars at Purdue.

Main attraction of the International is the free English classes offered. New students can join any time. For the fall session, there are six classes offered. They are:

  • English Conversation: Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:30-3:30 PM. There is a one time $3.00 fee for supplies.
  • Conversation Group: The group meets on Monday and Wednesday, 5:00-6:00 PM.
  • English Discussion: The group meets on Wednesdays 6:15-7:30 PM. The class is designed for intermediate to advanced speakers
  • English Pronunciation: English pronunciation class meets on Thursdays 3:45-4:45 PM.
  • Slang: This class designed for intermediate speakers meets on Wednesdays 3:00-4:15 PM.
  • Vocabulary
    Building

    : This class meets on Thursdays 6:15-7:15 PM.

also offers classes on foreign languages, run by volunteers. The fee is $30 and the instructors are native speakers of the language. For this fall, classes are offered in:

�· Beginning Japanese

�· Beginning Korean

�· Russian and Ukrainian

�· Beginning Spanish I

�· Advanced Spanish Conversation

Unlike the English classes, students cannot join at any time. For fall, registrations have to be completed by September 8.

also has a Coat Loan program which loans coats for free to international students and their family. There is also an international students housing program, which arranges a cooperative housing for eight students.

International cooking classes are arranged with a volunteer instructor every Wednesday from 5:30-8:00 PM. This fall, classes are offered in Indonesian, Indian, Mexican, Brazilian and Thai cooking.

Coffee and Conversation is for international women to talk with local women, learn about different cultures and make new friends. The group meets on Tuesdays from 10:00-11:30 AM. If you are interested in Karaoke, Fridays staring October 13, the

has Karaoke nights from 7-9 PM.

If none of the above interests you, then how about Tai Chi Chuan? Tai Chi is an ancient art of meditation developed in . Classes are held on Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 PM

also organizes specials on holidays. For Thanksgiving this year, there is a Thanksgiving Dinner organized by the center. Tickets are: $10 for public, $5 for students and free for children 4 or under.
