Kids Birthday Parties in Tucson

One of the great things about Tucson is that there is a wide array of wonderful places to hold your child’s birthday party. In the past eight years of my daughter’s life I have had and attended more kids birthday parties than I would even like to count. Of course, to my daughter that is a wonderful thing, and as much as I complain about it, I am lucky that she has so many friends that invite her to birthday parties and take part in hers.

The three places to have kids birthday parties in Tucson that I am reviewing here are the places that I believe to be the most fun and offer the best packages to really entertain and wear out the young ones, and make it easy on the parents.

The T-Rex Museum

100 E. Drachman Street
Tucson, AZ
520-792-2884

Send your kids back through time with fossils, science, art, astronomy, replicas and hands on exhibits, where they will have so much fun they won’t realize they are learning.

The T-Rex Museum offers 3 different kids birthday packages for all budgets that range from $10 per child up to $30 per child with a 5-children minimum and 25-children maximum and can be from 1-½ hours to 2 hours. They also offer ala carte upgrades like jumping castles, pizza, face painting and more.

Options for the kids birthday parties include a tour of the museum, guided or not, museum related birthday gift for the birthday child, fossil digs where the children get to take home whatever they find, watching a fun dinosaur themed movie, doing arts and crafts and more.

Expect your kids to come home dirty. There are two different kids of fossil digs, one in dry sand and one in water kind of like panning for gold. They can also go into the sand pit and grab a brush and uncover the fossils of dinosaurs just like the real Paleontologists.

If, like me, you are terrified of cockroaches be sure to run fast past the second corner during the tour. Trust me, you don’t want to take even a peek at the huge tank waiting there for you. If they have moved the tank since I last visited, I apologize in advance. Your kids will love it, of course, because there are tons of creepy crawlers for them to look at and they even get to touch some of them.

Overall the T-Rex Museum is a fun filled yet educational place to hold a kids birthday party in Tucson. The time just flies by, the kids get to get dirty, see and touch gross things, have fun and even learn a few things.

Celebrate
www.celebrateintucson.com
7830 E. Wrightstown Rd.
Tucson, AZ
520-751-9898

Let your kids run, jump, slide and have a blast indoors and out of the heat of Tucson at Celebrate – Tucson’s Only Indoor Inflatable playground.

Celebrate offers 5 different birthday packages for 10 to 30 children that range from $160 to $565 and can last 2 to 3 hours. Each package consists of a birthday tee for the birthday child, invitations, spin art, tattoos, karaoke with a cd going home with the birthday child, discount play passes, plates, napkins, forks, cups, time in a private inflatable playground room and a private party captain to take care of everything.

They also have a la carte activities, goodies, gifts, and food. The more expensive packages incorporate a lot of the a la carte things, allow for more children and last longer. The beauty part about it is that the parents don’t really have to do anything. That is what the Private party Captain is for.

Even the older kids will have a blast in the inflatable playground room. They have a really cool slide, a jumping castle, a double basketball hoop and a really long obstacle course maze type thing. All of these are inflatable and indoors contained in your private room. Plus you get to stay in there long enough to really wear the kids out.

The karaoke is a blast. They gather all the kids (and adults if they want) into the sound proof recording room. Then everyone gets to sing Happy Birthday and choose another song to sing or if the kids choose, they can just record messages to the birthday child. Then the birthday child gets to take the recorded cd home. Being in that room with a bunch of kids is entertaining, to say the least.

Once the kids are done singing, they go to the party room for spin art, tattoos, food, cake, drinks, and winding down time. As a parent it is great because as I said earlier, the Party Captain does all the work for you.

Overall, Celebrate is an entertaining and active place to hold a kids birthday party in Tucson. The kids get to play and be active, do some fun crafts, share their voices in karaoke and have a blast. With a Party Captain to do all the work, it is also great for the parents.

Tucson Children’s Museum
www.tucsonchildrensmuseum.org
200 S. 6th Avenue
Tucson, AZ
520-792-9985

Encourage interaction and trigger each child’s intellect with hand on exhibits as they experience learning in a fun way at the Tucson Children’s Museum.

The museum offers two basic packages for kids birthday parties for up to 20 people including adults at a price of $130 or $165 depending on the package. There are individual prices for each additional child and adult over 20 as well as a la carte activities that can be added on.

The Frolic Package is the basic package and includes a tee for the birthday child, a free pass for everyone for a future date, use of a private room for 2 hours, tablecloths on every table in the room and unlimited access to the museum all day.

The Jubilee Package includes everything in the Frolic package and also includes helium balloons, napkins, cups, plates and utensils and one hands on activity that the kids get to take home, which is run by the museum staff. The four activities to choose from are Everybody Digs Dinosaurs, Slimy Science, Fly Fly Tie-dye and King Me-Queen Me.

Even though you only get the party room for 2 hours, you will want to spend a lot more time in the museum to go through all the exhibits which are hands on fun for the kids. They have 12 different sections to the museum and once the kids get into them it is hard to get them out.

The kids can learn about Dinosaurs in Dinosaur World, experience underwater excitement in Ocean Discovery Center, do some science experiments in the Zoom Zone, create electricity in Electri-City, create a masterpiece in the Art Studio, shop for nutritious veggies at the Bakery/Farmers Market, check out interactive learning opportunities in Wee World (mainly for pre-schoolers), make music in Musica de la Americas, climb into a fire truck at the Fire Station, see great effects in Walls Of Wonder, play on computers in the IBM Young Explorers Center and check out the trains at the Trains, Trains, Train, exhibit.

This is edutainment at its best. The Tucson Children’s Museum is a thrilling and interactive place to hold a kids birthday party in Tucson. There is so much to see and do that the party becomes an all day event.

The next time you need to hold a kids birthday party in Tucson, you now have three terrific indoor places with a variety of activities, and budgets. Check them out and most of all have fun.
