Personalized Thanksgiving Placecards

If your family is like mine, every holiday dinner consists of a mad dash to the table to get the perfect seat for the evenings delicacies. No one wants the squished seat in the corner far from the delicious turkey, or the annoying chair between two of your loudest relatives. A simple and fair solution is placing name cards on the place settings prior to your guests arrival. They serve not only a functional purpose, but they act as a cute decoration for your holiday setup.

Although you can find cute place cards on websites such as Amazon.com, creating your own is not only the free option, but it also allows you to better personalize the design. For every single holiday, my thirteen year old cousin never fails to create the cutest place settings for the members of my family. Here is the procedure that she usually follows:

Materials Needed:
– Any thick paper of your choice
– Sharpie markers (red, green, brown, orange)
– Stickers

Step One: Cut each piece of paper into your desired sized rectangle. (7 inches by 10 inches usually works best!) Remember to use a thicker card stock type of paper that will be more durable. They stand up better and often look more professional.

Step Two: Decorating and adding stickers! This part is definitely the most fun. You can show your creative side by personalizing the place cards for each person who will be present. My cousin enjoys this part the most because she really gets to show off her artistic abilities. Her favorite thanksgiving decorations are turkeys, pumpkins, and fall leaves! A nice border of fall leaves around the edges adds a delicate and fancy edge.

Step Three: Add names. Fall colored sharpies to accent the designs are the best way to go. Brown, red, orange, and green are definitely crowd favorites!

Now if you don’t really consider yourself the creative type, there are other easier options for you out there. The Internet contains many free printable place cards that you can either decorate when printed or decorate online. This option still adds flair to your table, and is also a considerable option for those short on time! For those looking for a fall themed place card, I recommend some free printable place cards that are more holiday specific. The first link does not have thanksgiving specific cards, however, you can always decorate them to add a more personal touch!
