Play Ultima Online – Highest Content MMORPG Ever!

Ultima Online is the one of the first massive multiplayer online role-play games (MMORPG) on the market. Before the Internet, games were held to the confines of a single player or small network. Today games can run solely online with no option to play offline. These games called MMORPG now have thousands of players in a world running 24/7. Ultima Online came out in Sept. 1997 and has been running ever since.

There are many advantages to playing games in this genre but Ultima Online has really capitalized on it. The chances of creating a game that is near perfect without errors is impossible unless you spend years and years developing it and by that time the idea could have come and gone. Offline games may have patches that will fix those errors but most games will only have a few patches available if any at all.

Online games have many more, especially if the game has been running for years. Ultima Online has been getting constant updates and patches for nine years now. Not only has the game found and fixed errors but also more importantly they have inserted tons of new content. Ultima Online has more content than arguable all other MMORPGs out there. Nine years is a long history to test new ideas and implement them with a team that has been around for a while, almost as long as the industry itself.

There is so much content that even experienced players will have things they have never done before. Furthermore, Ultima Online regularly has large updates called expansions. These generally cost $30 or so but it will give you, in one large update, even more content. They may add more lands and dungeons to explore or more skills to utilize. New player classes and skills add a new dimension to the game every time. There has been a major expansion almost every year, each one unique. Expansions normally are sold in retail stores and come on a CD. All smaller patches are downloaded before entering the game.

I started playing in 2000 and I am yet to be bored. Just to give you an idea of my first day in Britannia, the first world in Ultima Online, here is an example of how much content Ultima Online offers. At first, I did not have many skills so I set out to make bows and arrows, which even a novice can master quickly. First, I found an ax, which is one of thousands of tools and weapons at your disposal and a sturdy tree. By chopping the tree, logs showed up in my backpack. By the way, every item in Ultima Online has a picture associated to it, logs look like logs, it will not simply say ’20 logs’ with some default, uninteresting looking picture.

I then took a fletcher’s tool and cut the logs into shafts. With the shafts available, the last step was finding some feathers. Again, my sturdy ax came in handy as I searched out for a small bird. Killing the bird and using my dagger on it, I could harvest feathers along with meat to eat later. The fletcher’s tool would then allow me to combine the feathers and shafts into arrows. That is just an example of how to make arrows. This in itself it not thrilling but the amount of detail is amazing.

Simply by making arrows I started to a get a feel for the land, I worked several skills including lumberjacking, fletching, carpentry, focus, fighting skills along with my stats, strength and dexterity. There is so much content that is impossible to do any one task without accomplishing much more.

The sheer number of just items is unbelievable in Ultima Online and it is growing all the time. With any game, after awhile you will know it so intimately that there is nothing left to accomplish. Ultima Online and other online games are forced to keep adding more and more content so the veteran players have something to accomplish. In Ultima Online, there is always an item you do not have or a place you have not yet explored. Decorating and customizing your house to your specification offers high content and hours of fun when you need a break from fighting.

Along with thousands of items to decorate your house are plants. The detail to grow plants is so complex you need to read about it first and get help from others. The supplies are numerous including, bowl, dirt, numerous seeds, water and other supplies just to grow your own plants. If you want more of an idea of what Ultima Online can offer, I suggest going to site called Stratics, The Massively Multiplayer Network at http://www.stratics.com/ it is very useful site for all MMORPGs.

This should in now scare away new players even though it will take time to learn. It would take considerable time to learn everything but keep in mind you will not be bored. If there is any chance of that, then learn something new or explore a new spot on the map that could open the door to countless more hours of new adventures. Ultima Online has enough content to satisfy anyone’s interests and playing styles.
