Romantic Date Ideas in Pueblo, CO

Pueblo, Colorado is a medium-sized community in Southeastern Colorado, a large portion of the population coming from college students. With a large percentage of the population in the single and dating demographic, a city like Pueblo has plenty of romantic atmosphere to offer.

For those looking for romantic dining, look no further than Rosario’s on Elizabeth St. Only a mile from the main Highway running through town, Rosario’s is a family owned and operated, unique Italian dining experience. The menu features the standards; spaghetti, lasagna, Alfredo, along with a few dishes which this writer has yet to find anywhere else, such as the champagne cheese tortellini. To fully experience the romantic atmosphere offered by Rosario’s, join them on a Friday or Saturday night and request a corner booth.

You say a secluded picnic is more your kind of thing? The city map is dotted from boundary to boundary with parks perfect for the picnic date. This writer’s suggestion is to take an evening to drive around the perimeter of Lake Pueblo to find a quiet cove off the beaten path, and then spread out your blanket and picnic fare away from fishermen and families.

If wining and dining is not “on your plate,” so to speak, try the Arkansas Riverwalk in Historic Downtown Pueblo. Take a stroll along the river pathways or hitch a ride on a paddleboat to view the fountains and waterfalls along the way. While romantic and beautiful any time of the year, this area of Pueblo is an especially good place to charm a date late in the evening, or after a spring snowfall decorates the banks of the river with a crisp, white blanket of glittering snow.

A select few romantic experiences in Pueblo are not available all year, making them even more special. In the summer, mid-August through Labor Day, the Colorado State Fair pulls into town. The State Fair is terrific for a romantic evening as there is something there for everyone. Take a stroll through the midway, share a bowl of ice cream, or partake in an array of live entertainment from comedians to musical acts to “street performers” (jugglers, magicians and the like). Or, if you are more interested in romance in the winter months, each weekend though out December, the Pueblo Zoo, located in Pueblo City Park, offers a romantic affair with it’s Electricritters display. Take a walk through the zoo, as the evening sky grows dark, and behold the holiday illuminations over a steaming cup of cocoa or cider.

Whether your romantic date includes food and drink or an afternoon outdoors, residents of and visitors to Pueblo have a wide variety to choose from. These are only a few suggestions of the many, many wonderfully romantic experiences available in this quaint college community.
