While visiting new areas I think it’s important to visit local art galleries. Bryson City has several art galleries that offer not only a wonderful look into the scenery of Bryson City, but these art galleries also offer several original piece of art for sale and prints as well. Art galleries allow you a glimpse into the lives of the locals, whether it’s through the landscapes of that area or just the way local artists view something as ordinary as the moon. These Bryson City art galleries will leave you wanting to see more of the Bryson City area.

Charles Heath works with several different types of material when creating his wonderful art. While at his art gallery, you will see oil paintings, pen and ink drawings, acrylic, pastels, mixed, and even photographs of the area. Charles Heath’s art gallery is simply amazing. Some of my favorite pieces are his pieces that involve the moon, such as ‘Moonscape II”. Heath’s work shows the wide variety of scenery that North Carolina has to offer, ranging from views of the mountains to lighthouses out on the coast. If you would like to take your art gallery visit to the next level, attend one of Heath’s art classes. He keeps the classes very small, no more than 6 students, or you can take lessons one on one with this amazing artist. You can visit Heath’s art gallery Monday-Saturday 10am – 5pm.

Elizabeth Ellison has been selling her watercolors across the for the past 30 years. Now you can visit Ellison’s art gallery and studio in the small, beautiful town of Bryson City. Ellison paints a wide variety of subjects ranging from wildflowers to animals to landscapes. She also teaches an art class in her studio for people who are just beginning to people who are advanced watercolor artists. Ellison even gathers local plants and flowers to make her own paper to do her watercolor washes on. Ellison also does pen and ink drawings, but her online art gallery features mostly watercolor paintings. Ellison work has been featured at art galleries across the country and are well worth seeing in the city she has called home since the 70s.

The Artist’s House Gallery is run by Peggy Duncan Nelson who also uses the gallery as her studio. She offers more than just paintings and drawings in her art gallery. Nelson also offers pottery, etchings, and antiques. The 1910 rock house which houses the art gallery is just as beautiful as some of the art held within. Nelson’s art gallery offers both contemporary and traditional art, so you’re sure to find something that will fit wonderfully into your home. You can visit Nelson’s art gallery Wednesday through Saturday 10am – 4pm.

If you live near Bryson City it’s important to note that both The Artist’s House Gallery and Heath Creations Studio and Gallery offer framing options. They will help you find the perfect frame and matting for your piece of art. The Artist’s House and Gallery will even customize the frame to your home. Even if you don’t live near Bryson City and are just visiting, I really think you should take the time to visit these art galleries.

Bryson Cityis a beautiful town and when I first saw it, about a year before moving to North Carolina, it reminded me of one of the sweet little towns you see in so many movies. The town is certainly worth visiting.
