Wal-Mart Layway Department

People throughout the counrty use wal-mart’s layway department, but word has it that wal-mart wants to get rid of the department all together. I really don’t think that they have really thought about this all that well. I don’t think they understand how many people really need this department. Many parents and even grandparents use this department for many different reasons. Two of the main reasons are school and christmas. Parents rely on the layway department to hold their children’s christmas presents so that they don’t see them before christmas. Christmas is a rough time a year for everybody. People spend more than they should, and don’t have all the money right up front for everything that they need or want. So they use the layway department for help. They put the things in layway, make a down payment and then pay it out each week until it is paid for or until the length of the time that they are allowed to have it in there. I haven’t used layway all that much. The last time I used it was last year when I put all my baby stuff on layway.

I needed a crib, car seat, stroller, and other things for my baby before he was born. I didn’t have all the money to pay for everything up front so we had to put it on layway. I was going to do the same thing this time around now that I’m pregnant once again. I really don’t think wal-mart looks at what would happen if they did take this department out. Many people would just go to other stores that do have a layway department. They are worried about sales not being where they want them to be now, they need to imagine what the sales would look like when people start going to other stores to buy what they need because they know that they can put it on layway if needed. Life is not easy for people like it used to be. Everything has gone up in price. Many people are just getting by each month on what they make and when things like christmas and school comes around the parents get worried about what they are going to do. They know that they can’t just forget about the things their children need or want so many parents set aside a certain amount of money each week and they put things on layway so that they know their children will get everything they need for school and everything that they want for christmas. I really hope that wal-mart thinks about this before making a final decision. They should have some kind of survey either at the store or on their website that asks their customers what they think about the layway department being taken away and then go by what the comsumer has to say.
