Why MEDITATION is the BEST For Your Heath to Practice Everyday

In today’s world of competition and speed what all of us need is something which revives our inner self and relieves us from the stress and strain and keep us healthy both emotionally and physically. Most of the diseases are gifts of stress, for example, sleeplessness, digestive disorders, migraine, asthma, high blood pressure, angina, ulcer etc. Many of us get use to one or other kind of addiction in an effort to get relieved from stress like smoking, use of non prescribed drugs, alcohol, anxiety and insomnia. All of them are well known to be associated with stress and in most of the cases medicine is also relatively ineffective at dealing with it.

Meditation is a powerful method of relieving ourselves from all the above health problems. Not only does meditation makes us look younger but also keeps our resources of energy alive and self-sufficient. The aim of practicing meditation is to gain mindfulness and concentration. The best known and most widely use of mediation is prayer. Most of us feel that after attending a worship service we feel more hopeful and positive toward life. Many feel that singing, praying, and reading and reflect on the meaning and purpose of life with like-minded people prepares them to face challenges of life. Meditation is to help us to focus our attention and concentration to any one point. If your mind is stressed and you feel you have a lot in your mind then just take a break – meditate for some time and you can feel the change in your approach toward your life and work. Meditation techniques have been practiced from thousands of years. Originally the purpose of meditation was to help an individual deepen his understanding of the sacred and mystical forces of life. But in modern concept meditation is widely used to reduce stress.

Meditation is also a complementary and alternative medicine technique that falls under the category of mind-body relaxation technique. These types of therapies not only build communication between body and mind but also repair it. Normally throughout the day, we experience the busy active every day level of thinking. When we do meditation we allow our mind to experience the peace and get relaxed. Meditation is considered one of most important in any spiritual act and it is a part of almost every culture. It takes our mind from its conscious state to its sub-conscious and than to its unconscious state where an individual experiences the blankness of thought. It develops broader awareness, greater happiness, and refined feelings and emotions. All these result in more positive and a warm personality, which is capable to look into the depth of life and respond to it. After we have finished meditating the mind is fresher, quieter, more alert and happier and which makes the person practicing meditation positively more recipient to divine source of energy.

Performing meditation also improves our relationships. We tend to give others what we have. And when our mind is full of confusion, pain, stress and strain we share same thing with our friends and family. This consequently leads to brittle relationships. Meditation contributes to more successful and fulfilling relationships, and increases ones ability to give more of oneself in a positive way. It reduces stress and tension, which is a major barrier to communication. It develops a more mature and tolerant personality along with broader awareness, greater feeling of happiness and refined feelings and emotions. All these result in a personality capable to give good atmosphere for the relationships to develop in a healthy manner. That’s why a few minutes of meditation a day gives the capacity to respond in a better way to family, friends, colleagues and society.
Several different forms of meditation are known today but basically either it involves complete stillness or movement. Concentration meditation involves focusing your mind on a single point. It can include breathing, visualization or looking at an object continuously. As the mind settles down body also achieves the unique state of rest. The changes have been measured in psychological and physiological tests and are found to directly reverse the adverse effect of stress and strain. It increases performance and saves us from physical wear and tear. In short, it brings enjoyment in life. There may or may not be things we can do to reconstruct our lives but regular practice of meditation results in more balanced outlook and greater appreciation. Meditation that includes movement can be spontaneous and free-form or involve highly structured, choreographed, repetitive patterns.

Basically, meditation deeply relaxes the body and then takes mind where it naturally becomes ‘blank’ of thoughts. Once this state is being achieved it can be maintained either for few seconds or for few hours. The posture during meditation is also very important. Comfortably sitting position is the easiest posture. While sitting like this the spine should be erect and straight. Joining of hands and crossing of legs is also needed as it makes the bio energy field around us more compact and therefore more intensive. We can based on our comfort choose an easy posture for meditating and practice it daily at least only for few minutes. This will give us energy to maintain our health. Instead of depending on outer sources to cure us we can develop habit of meditating daily. Without this experience we only have access to constantly changing phases of life. Our thoughts, feelings, emotions, and approach toward life change regularly and thus no wonder we feel stressed and isolated. Meditation relieves us and makes us aware of our non-changing inner qualities. Meditation gives mind refreshing and deeply relaxing state of restful alertness. It makes us feel happier and enlightened. It takes away all unnecessary burdens from our mind and gives space for fresh nourishing ideas to develop. It filters the thoughts and emotions and brings in their refined forms, which keeps our mind, heart and body healthy and strong.

So develop the habit of mediating daily. Attend some courses near your locality and learn from an experienced person. You could also find some interesting books, CD, DVD on this subject in public library. See the changes it will bring in your Life within few days.
