    History:

Before Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him)’s Hijrat (migration) to the then called Yathrib and now Madina in 622 AD, Muslims were unfamiliar with the festival of Eid ul Fitr. At that time the people of Madina use to celebrate two festivals of Persian origin quite regularly, the Minhaj and the Nawroze, when the moon is full during spring and autumn. These two festivals were against the norms of Islam therefore, upon his arrival in Madina, when Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) found out about these two Persian festivals he was shocked and said: “Allah has given you two days better than these days”. One of these days was of Eid ul Fitr and the other was of Eid ul Azha.
