Bakerloo Tube Line in London

Starting from Elephant and Castle in the South East London and ending at Harrow & Wealdstone in the North West of the city, the Bakerloo Line covers total 25 stations over a length of 23.3km (14.4 miles). The line runs at both surface level and deep level; out of 25 stations over Bakeeloo line, 15 are underground and 10 are over ground. The Bakerloo Line is said to be the 7th busiest line in London underground which processes more than 100 million passengers per year. The busiest stations of the line are between Elephant & Castle and Queen’s Park where you can find a train every 2.5 minutes, from Queen’s Park to Harrow & Wealdstone it’s comparatively less busy, but still you can find a train every 10 minutes.

    History of Bakerloo Line:

    The name of Bakerloo Line actually comes from the initial route of the line whereby the areas of Baker Street and Waterloo were served. There’re some rumours stating that the Bakerloo Line was originated on desire of some Cricket lover businessmen in London who wished to travel to and from Lord’s Cricket Ground quickly. But when the line started in 1906, there were more than 36,000 passengers despite the fact that it was not the Cricket season. The Bakerloo Line underwent continuous changes since 1906 and still it’s undergoing an expansion plan, which aims to upgrade the facilities on each station on line.
