    History

The BOA has been a labor of love for its founder Paul Gregory and Vince Brotheridge. The original idea started in 2001 when the organizers met and decided to stage the best metal music festival in the UK. Initially Bloodstock was an indoor event in Derby. However, the festivals popularity prompted the two organizers to created a second Bloostock that would be outdoors. The first BOA was staged in 2005 along with an indoor festival. Starting the next year the indoor event was scrapped and only the open air was continued. Initially the bands only have one stage to perform on. In 2006 a second stage was added with the soul purpose of highlighting new talent. A third stage was incorporated into the show in 2007. The two organizers finally went their seperate ways in 2006. Today, the event is run by Paul Gregory and his daughters.
