Difference between Huawei Ascend W1 and Samsung Ativ Odyssey

Mobile market has expanded significantly within a few years. Without a doubt, the customers now have a huge variety to choose from. It is a very good sign. To meet the standards and to stay in the competition, the mobile manufacturers are releasing new models almost every day.

Huawei Ascend W1 and Samsung Ativ Odyssey are two mid-range smartphones which are best for those who don’t want to spend large amount of money. The former of the two is a new Windows Phone 8 phone, while the other one is basically an upgraded version of Ativ S. Both mobiles are different in terms of design, shape, weight and features.

The Huawei device is powered by a Dual-core 1.2 GHz Krait processor and 512 MB RAM, while the Samsung phone has a Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 1 GB RAM. So, the latter has a stronger hardware. Although both devices offer 4-inch screens, there is a difference between their dimensions. Huawei Ascend W1’s dimensions of 124.5 x 63.7 x 10.5 mm are slightly different from Samsung Ativ Odyssey’s dimensions of 122.4 x 63.8 x 10.9 mm.

The Samsung phone is only five grams heavier than Huawei Ascend W1. As far as the back cameras are concerned, both devices have a 5 megapixel rear camera. But there is a difference between their front-facing cameras. Huawei Ascend W1 has a VGA camera on the front, while Samsung Ativ Odyssey’s secondary camera is of 1.2 MP. The Samsung phone has a larger internal memory. It offers 8 GB storage – 4 GB larger than the Huawei phone.

    Huawei Ascend W1

    Released in January 2013, Huawei Ascend W1 has an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that supports 16M colours. It offers multi-touch up to four fingers. The user can expand the memory up to 32 GB through microSD card. It offers many exciting features, such as SNS integration, Voice memo/dial, and Predictive text input. The device is available in four different colours; blue, red, black, and white.

    Samsung Ativ Odyssey

    The phone also hit the market in January 2013. Powered by Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, the phone has a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset. It provides nice sensors like accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. Among its important features are: SNS integration, Document viewer/editor, and MP4/DivX/XviD/WMV/H.264/H.263 player. It is available only in gray colour.
