Difference Between Modem and Router

Access to the ‘network of networks’ requires basic knowledge about the real needs and their combination with the economic capital to invest. Once you have chosen the company, and provided that such systems not using digital fiber, you have to think if you need a modem or router,

Modem and routers are both used in networks. However, the differences between the two are far more substantial than it might seem at first glance, and to know them is quite interesting to see what can be achieved by using each one of them.

Basically, the modem handles the overall connection to the internet. This is the device that connects directly to the telephone line and converts the signals in and out of the computer. Sometimes modem device also connects to the internet by digital transmission, which is incorrect. But its goal is the same as the traditional modem: to connect to the internet. Instead the router or router is a device that allows multiple computers to distribute internet. The router is usually connected to the modem via a cable. The internet modem gives the router and the router is responsible for distribution.

The modem will only serve for a PC, while the router has more than one connection. Generally they have around 4 cable connections which can provide wireless connection to connect to the Internet.

USB modems are offered by companies to connect to mobile broadband. This is a different type of connection. It is true that the giveaway USB modems and routers are quite expensive. Besides the new wireless routers such as the Xavi, Zyxel 650 HW , Zyxel 660 HW ,Comtrend 536 + and many more allow us to set up a wireless network at home, but also need a PCMCIA and USB adapters that raise the price considerably.
