Difference between Noodles and Pasta

Staple foods are always an instant and rich source of nutritional elements especially the carbohydrates. Noodles and pasta are the prime example of such food items as they are widely loved across the globe. Though, both items belong to same category of food but still they have lot of differences in their making, usage and benefits.

The first difference is of their ingredients as noodles are the product of a mixture of wheat, rice, mung bean, acorn, canna starch, buckwheat and potato. On the other hand, pasta is made of durum wheat semolina and eggs. Technically, noodles can be called a sub category of pasta. However, some believe that actually pasta is an altered form of noodles macaroni and lasagna spaghetti.

Moreover, if we talk about nutritional facts then it is an established fact that pasta is more suitable for diet conscious people as it contains lower amount of calories and fats as compared to noodles.

There is also a difference in their shape and cooking style. Noodles mostly exist in the shape of long thin strips whereas you will find pasta in broad strips. Normally, Pasta is cooked by boiling the strips while noodles can be cooked in several ways. They can be prepared through boiling, frying or cooked in broth and drained.

    Pasta:

    Pasta belongs to category of staple foods and it has earned admiration all over the world despite of having an Italian origin. Though, it is simple dish but it is available in large varieties. The reason is that it is also served with lot of other dishes. In some regions, some pasta dishes are considered first course and they are served with a portion of meat. Pastas can be divided into two categories, dried and fresh pasta. Mostly, dried pastas are produced through machines whereas fresh pastas are produced by hand. Moreover, dried pastas do not contain eggs as main ingredient like fresh pasta.

    Noodles:

    The noodle is also a member of staple foods family and it is considered an important and low-cholesterol source of nutritional elements. Mostly, they are found in long thin strips but different companies make them in other shapes like tubes, waves, helices, strings etc. The flexibility of this food item is its specialty as you can make them by simply boiling in water or deep frying in cooking oil. Moreover, they can be dried or stored in refrigerator for future use.
