Goodbye Letter To Co Worker

Writing a goodbye letter to co-workers is a respectful way to head off from an organization where you have been working. It is better to keep the letter formal and to the point.

Opening salutation: If your letter is to the entire office or department, use some very generic terms like “Dear Friends,” “Dear Colleagues” or “To the employees at ______” etc for the opening salutation.

Announcement: In the opening paragraph, put in concise and formal words to announce that you are leaving the organization and mention your official last day with your co-workers. Moreover, write about your sad feeling over leaving the organization and co-workers. There is no need to mention the reason behind your departure from the organization as your co-workers might be aware to the situation in advance.

Gratitude and Memories: Use the second paragraph of the letter to show your gratitude and to recall all the warmhearted memories that you spent with your co-workers. Leaving the office doesn’t mean to be sad, so mention something that can make them feel proud for being there for you as good colleague and the thing that can bring smile to their face. Keep this paragraph a very generic one.

Contact Information: Conclude the letter in the third paragraph with a hope that you will be able to keep in touch with your co-worker. Mention your personal contact information, including your phone number or email address.

Close: End the letter with something like “Sincerely,” “Yours Faithfully,” “Yours Truly" or simply your handwritten signature followed by your typed name.

    Dear Colleagues,

As much as people joke (and are serious) about leaving their job, I never thought that the day I would be doing the same would come so soon. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my sincere colleagues for everything they’ve for me and making my tenure with ABC Private Limited a memorable one. January 10, 2013 will be my last working day in this organization.

The three year’s tenure that I spent among you people was the most excellent period of my career so far. I am grateful to all of you for all your help, support and supervision like true friends. I learned a great deal among all of you and I am sure I will remain in contact with you all for a long time. I can only wish that my new company will give me such rewarding experiences and supportive friends like ABC Private Limited.

I would like to wish you and the company all the very best of luck for the future. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 0033-3383383 or email me at
