By leaving smoking, you can not only lower your blood pressure to a healthy level, you can make your help your health become healthier as well, thus reducing the risk of other heart-related diseases.
Hypertension is also caused due to excessive weight. While obese people are at the greatest risk of high blood pressure, being over-weight also results in high blood pressure. Since you are carrying the extra weight, your heart is forced to work harder. When the heart starts to beat faster, you will find yourself becoming breathless and consequently tired. Therefore, make an effort to reduce your weight.
Drugs and alcohol should be avoided. Both the things may damage the liver and the kidneys when consumed in excess. Whenever an organ is damages, it results in a build-up of fluids in the body, which consequently causes the heart to pump harder. As a result, the blood pressure of a person elevates to a dangerous level.
Try to relax yourself. Stress contributes heavily to hypertension. If you have a family history of high blood pressure or if already have high blood pressure due to excess of alcohol, drugs, smoking or being over-weight, the effect of stress will become even more. Go out on walks more often to relax yourself. Try not to over-think stuff and if there is something that is bothering you, try to distract yourself from it.
Exercise is a great way to lower your blood pressure. Make it a part of your daily routine. The ideal time to exercise is early morning, though you can do it in the evening as well if that is when you are free. It is a known scientific fact that walking suppresses hypertension. If you cannot walk due to bad weather or personal safety, get yourself a treadmill and do the exercise at home.
Meditation can help you and consequently your heart relax. Just find some quiet place, sit there, clear your mind of everything and breathe slowly and deeply.
