How to Burn CD on Windows Media Player

There are a number of CD burning software readily available for free download over the internet. However, if you are planning to burn a CD using built-in Windows features, consider using the Windows Media Player. Burning CD on Windows Media Player is a simple task and does not require any technical knowledge. As a matter of fact, even a novice can burn a CD on Windows Media Player very easily.

Things Required:

– Windows Media Player installed on a computer
– CD-RW Drive
– Blank CD

    Run Windows Media Player, click the tab captioned 'Burn' and then click Audio CD if it is not already selected.

    Open the CD-RW drive on your computer and place the blank CD on the tray. Close the drive and wait for windows to read the blank CD. This should not take more than ten to fifteen seconds.

    If there are any titles in the list of items to be burned, clear them by clicking the button captioned 'Clear List pane'.

    Go to the Windows Media Player Library and select the files which you want to burn onto the blank CD. You can select songs from one or more albums or you can select songs from a previously created Windows Media Playlist.

    Drag the desired items from the 'Details' pane to the 'List' pane in order to create a burn list. The pane located in the middle of the Media Player Library is the Details pane whereas the pane on the library’s right side is the List pane.

    In order to change the order of the burn list, drag items up or down the list as you require. For removing a particular song from the burn list, right click the desired song and then click ‘Remove from List’ from the dropdown menu which appears.

    Finally, click the button labelled 'Start'. Windows Media Player will start burning your selected items onto the blank CD which you inserted in the CD-RW drive. The time required for this process will largely depend on the size of the items being burnt on the CD. However, there are a number of other contributing factors such as quality of the blank CD being used and the speed of the CD-RW drive.

    When all the selected items have been burnt, Windows Media Player will eject the CD from the drive.
