How to Catch Motion in Photographs

It is difficult to take pictures of a moving object, especially for professional and skilled photographers. You need to prepare before taking snaps of moving objects in contrast with taking pictures of non moving objects.     Shutter speed

    You need to adjust the appropriate shutter speed of your camera before taking a snap of a moving object. You need to choose the right shutter speed so you can keep the subject in focus and will also allow proper exposure. In case you are capturing a fast object, you are required to set a faster shutter speed. This will lead you in taking a blur-free and a sharp photograph.

    Pre-focus your lens

    You need to pre-focus your lens before taking snap of a moving object. This is because the subject won’t be in the frame before time. Thus for focusing purposes, you need to pre-focus your lens. You need to focus on a landscape where you expect your subject to arrive when you release the shutter. Remember to turn off the auto-focus for this purpose.

    Figure out the action

    You need to decide what action you want to capture in your photo. You should ponder over the area and then decide at what time your subject will be in a particular action which you want to capture. You are required to follow the subject with your camera and remember to keep it in the frame. By this you will be able to capture clear picture of the subject and blurry image of the background.

    Release the shutter

    In the end you need to release the shutter when the subject passes through the area where you have pre-focused. Remember to adjust the shutter speed according to the subject. In case you are using a digital SLR camera then you can even check the image on the LCD screen.
