To avoid fuel leakage, disable the fuel pump or disconnect it from the fuel injectors. To do this, refer to your vehicle’s manual. You may also install a U-tube to prevent fuel from coming out of the fuel tank.
Attach the fuel injector cleaning kit to the fuel port and remove the fuel cap covering the gasoline tank. The cleaning kit develops excessive pressure in the fuel system so make sure you remove the fuel cap to avoid combustion.
Turn on the engine and let is use all cleaning solvent in the fuel injector cleaning kit. Ideally, it will take around 5 to 10 minutes. When all the cleaning solvent has been used up, the engine will shut down.
Reconnect the fuel pump to the fuel injectors. Replace the fuel cap that you had removed from the fuel tank earlier.
Start the engine again. Use a long screw driver as a ‘stethoscope’. If you can hear clicking sounds at regular intervals, this means that you have successfully cleaned the fuel injectors of your car.
