How to Cure a Clogged Eustachian Tube

Eustachian tubes connect the ears to back of the nostrils. At times they can get clogged due to cold weather or particular allergens. You can unclog them with some home remedies effectively. However, if you know the reason of clogged tubes is something else, such as poring of any liquid, or it is getting worse with the passage of  time, you should check with your doctor.     Valsalva Maneuver

    Gently do Valsalva maneuver to try unclog the clogged Eustachian tubes. The process is simple; however, try avoid too much pressure on the ears. Take a long breath and then close your mouth tightly and nostrils with your hand so that the pressure goes back on the Eustachian tubes. Pressure can make them open.

    Yawning or Chewing

    Chewing gum for a while, or eating something can also help open the clogged Eustachian tubes. Chew gum for a while if it helps, or eat an apple or something else. Yawning is a natural process to unclog the clogged Eustachian tubes, as it stretches the muscles at back of the ears.

    Placing of Warm Pad or Towel

    If other remedies do not work, try to place a warm towel or pad on your ears for a while, it can help unclog the clogged Eustachian tubes. It is better if you dampen the towel as it can generate and penetrate more heat through the tubes than a dry towel.

    Nasal Decongestants

    In case all other home remedies have failed to unclog the clogged ear tubes, try nasal decongestants, which you can buy over the counter of any drug store. Make sure that the product is not expired.

    You may also ask you local pharmacy if they have an over-the-counter solution for the clogged tubes. Generally, they have solutions, but make sure you use a trusted brand, and also inquire if it has any allergy specifications.

    If you think the problem is getting worse in spite of using all home remedies and over-the-counter solutions, see your doctor to get prescribed any purpose-made solution for unclogging the ears.
