People also have conflicting personalities often and it becomes hard for them to bear each other’s presence. Out in the world, we have the option to ignore people we dislike; however, if there are undesirable people at your workplace, you may well be stuck with them.

If you are lucky, you may get colleagues who are friendly and supportive. Manipulative co-workers however, are hard to deal with and may frustrate you to the point of wanting to quit the job. Such people are never focussed on their own performance, and instead, are always in search of weaknesses to exploit others.

Dealing with such people requires that you make prudent choices and know when to distance yourself from someone who is looking to harm your work and career.

You must avoid any gossip at workplace and behave nicely with every colleague of yours. Some co-workers make groups just to ensure that they can manipulate or avoid manipulation. You do not need to be a part of any grouping or internal politics of an organization. Come to work on time, do you job efficiently and go home at the end of your shift.

    If you mind your own business and do not interrupt anyone else’s progress, chances are high that you will be able to deal well with the manipulation of the co-workers.

    Yes, it is important that you mind your own business and do not involve yourself in gossip; however, it is also crucial that you keep your eyes and ears open and ensure that there is no politics going on against you. If you remain sharp, you can gauge people and be in a better position to tackle a situation.

    A professional individual must be aware of the rules of the organization and the code of conduct. You must build a very strong rapport with the higher management and in case of any manipulation going around; you should bring the management on board. However, do not blindly believe in rumours.
