How to Do a Karate Dori in Aikido

Karate is the most famous form of martial arts. It prepares you mentally and physically to cope up with your enemies. Furthermore, it makes your mind stronger to control your body moves. It was originated from Japan, but with the passage of time it spread in the whole world and has been considered as one of the best form of self-defence.

Katate Dori is a very important move in Karate in which you hold or grab the wrist of your opponent in order to initiate the attack. It can be done by two ways. First, it can be performed by Gyaku Hamni style in which opposite foot goes forward and second, by Ai hamni in which the same foot goes forward.

    First of all, you have to stand in the proper position for Aikido. Keep your one foot forward and one foot back in an extended position.

    If you and your opponent have the opposite foot forward, you will have to perform Katate Dori by following gyaku hamni. You will grab the wrist of your opponent like you are shaking hand with him, but around his wrist. It is extremely important for you to have a strong (but not spiteful) grip.

    If you and your opponent have the same foot forward, you will need to perform Ai Hamni move which means you will bring the same foot forward to grab his wrist. You will grab like you are shaking his hand, without actually shaking it.

    It is very important for you to keep yourself physically and mentally fit in order to learn the right moves of Karate. You cannot become a good learner until or unless you do a lot of practice at home.

    You can join a good karate school so as to learn the moves in the right way. Furthermore, you can also earn belts in karate if you go to a popular school in your town.

    If you cannot find time to go to a proper karate school, you can learn it by taking help of a private tutor or any other partner with which you can learn and practice different moves.
