How to Flush Your Sinuses at Home

Allergy season is always troublesome for those that suffer from severe congestion of the sinuses during this time of year, or basically anyone that is more prone to facing these issues. Medication is not always the answer and can be expensive at times, which is why you should look into a more natural treatment that you can do right at the comfort of your own home.

Cleansing your sinuses is a great way to get rid of all that congestion and is totally safe. You just have to follow the set procedures for performing a flush for sinuses at home and hopefully, it will work magic for you.

    Take a glass and fill it with 8 oz. of lukewarm water, adding a mixture of 1/8 to ¼ tsp. of non-iodized salt. This kind of salt can be found at any regular grocery store. Baking soda is the next ingredient to be added, in a quantity of ¼ tsp. After adding all the aforementioned, mix in the substances until they have completely dissolved and have now formed a more hazy solution. This is now your saline sinus rinse solution and the same solution can be made again and again in the future for use.

    Using a sinus irrigator, which can be found at your local pharmacy, come in a variety of types that, can be used in this process. Add the saline solution you have created above to fill the sinus irrigator and prepare to use it to flush your sinuses at home.

    Now it is time to actually flush out your sinuses at home. Turn your hide sideways above a sink and now insert the irrigator into your nostril which is facing upwards so that there is no leaking and that it will be allowed to flow through the entire sinus tract. After doing this, the solution will pass through your sinuses and eventually come out of your other nostril which is facing towards the sink.

    This process should not hurt at all, but the sensation will be a little different.

    Repeat this process now on the other nostril and allow the solution to pass through your sinuses cavities. It can take a little time to let all of the saline solution out and drain them properly out.

    Now it is time to clean out your nose either by rinsing it out with tap water or with a tissue. The sinus irrigator should be now dried out and stored for future use.
