How to Get Brazil Tourist Visit Visa from London

The large South American country Brazil, has immense natural beauty in its rain forests, beaches and mountains and many other attractions to offer tourists from London.  There are also many cultural events including the Rio Carnival that grab the attention of visitors.     Type of Visa


    As an applicant for a Visa you must first figure out what type of visa you require. A Tourist visa is only for individuals who are looking to sight see in the country, attend seminars, artistic events or sports events. The tourist visa is a multiple entry permit and allows you to go in and out of the country several times. A business visa is separate from the tourist visa and requires a different visa.


    People who are citizens of the following countries are actually exempt from a visa and can get one issued at the airport once they enter Brazil:


    Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, El Salvador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malaysia, Monaco, Morocco, Namibia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, the Sovereign Order of Malta, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uruguay, the Vatican and Venezuela.


    All other countries need to apply for their visa through the consulate general. There are also some countries that may require prior approval before a visa application is processed.


    The visa will be initially issued for 90 days and can be extended later on.

    Required Documents


    a) The traveler needs to have a passport that has a validity of at least six months. The Brazilian government also requires that their be two blank pages in the document that are clean and un-damaged.


    b) A return ticket must be shown.


    c) The consulate will also require that you have enough money to suppport yourself during your stay in Brazil. A rule of thumb is that the applicant has 150 USD for each day in the country. Original bank statements, salary slips and credit payments can be used as proof. You will need a copy and original of each document you bring.

    Visa Application form


    This is the final piece of required documents when applying for a Brazilian tourist visit visa. The form is available online and is valid for only one month. So you need to complete the form and apply tot he embassy in person or else a new online application needs to be lodged.

    c) You will receive a receipt of the application and a processing number.


    d) Print out these documents and then glue a passport size photograph to the form.


    e) After attaching one picture sign and date the form. Keep these with you because you will need to present this at the consulate general.

    Submitting application


    The Brazilian Consulate General requires that applicants come to their premises to lodge an application for visa. You must first get a ticket from the consulate general to set up a time and this can be done by walking in to the consulate general only between the timing of 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM from Monday to Friday.


    Once you have your ticket go back on the agreed upon time and present all your document and credentials to the staff member serving you. Remember that you must be their in person or through a third party. No applications are accepted through the post. However, if you provide a already stamped and paid delivery envelope, the consulate can sent it back to you via post.

    Fees


    You will be required to pay an application fee when you submit your forms and documents for processing. The fee is generally 16 Pounds but some countries do have different reciprocal relationships with Brazil and the fee could be different.

    The fee must be paid by postal order and the consulate does not accept cash, check or credit card. Applicants need to go to any post office and make out the postal order in the exact amount to the Brazilian Consulate General.

    Processing times and receiving your passport


    The processing times differ from application to application. Generally if you have submitted the forms in person you can expect to receive your passport within 5 working days either by post, if you have provided the pre-paid envelope, or for pickup in person. If your country of citizenship is one that require prior approval then 2 weeks will be required for processing plus the five days at the consulate.
