Cradle cap is another harmless type of skin infection that is common in most of the babies. It is also known as nfantile seborrheic dermatitis and it looks filthy because of its greasy pale or white flakes all around the head. The flakes can appear either on infant’s head, forehead, ears, nose, cheeks, buttocks and many other parts of the body but the good thing is that they are always temporary. Sometimes they also cause itching which certainly leads to bleeding hence if you find cradle caps on your baby’s body, you should go for some treatment as the babies feel uneasy with cradle caps and they look dirty. There are several treatments suggested for cradle caps and some of them which are most effective are listed below.
You can apply any type of emollient on the cradle caps and the best emollients to use are vegetable oil, petroleum jelly or mineral oil. After applying the emollient, give it an overnight to settle down.
You can use a soft toothbrush or a terry cloth to rub the effective areas gently and after use of this technique you will be able to see the difference within two days.
If you want your baby to get rid of cradle caps more quickly then you should wash their hair daily with any type of baby shampoo. Don’t forget to rub the flakes after shampooing.
In case all of the above mentioned treatments fail to show you some result then you should go for 1% hydrocortisone creams. Apply the cream on effected areas daily for a week.
A Ketoconazole cream is an anti-fungal cream which is very effective against any type of fungal infections such as cradle caps. It can be used on almost all affected areas of the body. You have to use 2% Ketoconazole cream for your baby, apply it on the affected areas at least twice in a weak.
