How to Have a Successful First Date

Relationships are complex and tricky where dating plays a major role in laying down the foundation for a happy future. First dates are always hard, given both people don’t know much about each other. However, it is advisable to go with an open mind. Even if the date does not work out, it won’t be the end of the world. It is imperative to select a suitable location for the date, where you and your would-be partner can feel comfortable.

Instructions

  • 1

Considering the nature and personality of your date, you will need to select an appropriate place.

  • 2

You need to dress appropriately on the first date; women shouldn't be dressed revealingly. For men, it is important not to dress too casually either, so your date knows you put effort into it.

  • 3

When on the dining table, engage your date with interesting topics. Avoid talking on politics and other boring stuff.

  • 4

You are there to know more about your date, so talk about subjects that are of interest to her/him without imposing yourself.

  • 5

Talking less and listening more is the key to a successful evening. Be confident, polite and attentive to your date's responses.

  • 6

Taking calls during a date is considered rude. If the call is very important, you can excuse yourself politely in order to attend it.

  • 7

Laughter is a sign of a successful date. Women especially admire guys who can make them laugh.  However, you need to keep things light and not go overboard with jokes.

  • 8

Be yourself and do not try to hide your personality, fake people are often easy to spot, which could turn your date off.

  • 9

Do not check out other people while you are with your date. He/She deserves your full attention.

  • 10

If your date is not going well there is always a way to make a comeback by taking her/him somewhere else after dinner.

  • 11

If your date needs a ride home, be polite and civil about it. Try not to impose yourself and wait for the second date if things went well.
