How to Hook up DJ Equipment System

Regardless of the skills and talent, it is impossible to play something good without a properly hooked up DJ equipment. The real problem arises when a new DJ buys his/her own musical system. A lot of individuals make a simple mistake by considering themselves ready for everything after playing on others’ already hooked-up equipment.

Setting up the DJ system is not as simple as it sounds. You need to link the different parts of the system properly to produce the best sound. First of all, you will find no sound, if the equipment is not properly hooked up. And even you get something, the quality will surely be awful. If you are familiar with the different parts of the equipment, it is not hard to set up the system.

    Almost every DJ system connects in the same way. If you own a tabletop system, the procedure of hooking up is extremely easy, because the connections are on the back and easy to find.

    Begin the procedure by connecting CD player to the mixer. There are separate RCA inputs for the CD player on the back of the mixer, where you will also find XLR outputs to go to the amplifier.

    You need to ensure a proper connection between the input of channel one and the CD player. Use red ports for this. Now, the CD player is connected into the CD input of the channel one.

    It is the time to connect the second CD player to the channel two CD input. The players have been successfully connected to the mixer. Now, you are required to focus on the amplifier.

    Don’t forget to use the balanced XLR output, if you are using a professional grade amplifier. There are a couple of things to be kept in mind at this stage.

    Use one channel in order to run the system in mile. However, if you are interested in shifting to the stereo, you are supposed to use the RCA outputs.

    This step is about connecting the mixer to the amplifier. Don’t forget to turn off the power switch before making any move at this stage. The gains should also be down. The XLR output has already been used for the mixer; therefore, you need to use XLR input for the amplifier.

    The time has come to connect the speakers. The amplifier always uses a banana plug. Connect the negative to black port, making sure that the output one is used from the input one of the amplifier. The speakers are connected now. Enjoy.
