How to Improve Kicking Power

Playing sports is something almost everyone wants to do. It doesn’t matter how old you are or what you do, if presented the opportunity to go on and play any sport, almost everyone would jump at that opportunity.

However, playing sports at a semi professional level is no easy task. It takes years and years of practice, and requires you to be amongst the best at what you don on the pitch every time you step on it.

As is the case with most sports that require you to kick a ball, you need to be able to kick the ball a significant distance. At the same time, you need to be able to put some power behind your shot, in order to make it a whole lot more unstoppable.

    Technique

    One of the most basic steps to improving your kicking power is to be able to get the right technique programmed into your brain.

    Kicking the ball is quite easy and just about anyone can do it. However, kicking the ball with the correct technique is no easy task.

    In order to be able to blast the ball as far as you possibly can, you need to almost always make contact on the ball with your instep. This will see you hit the ball cleanly and make contact with a maximum amount of surface area on the ball.

    This is one of the best ways to be able to transfer body from your body into the ball.

    The next important step is to be able to get the technique right for placing your supporting foot next to the ball. Placing the supporting foot either too far ahead of the ball, or too far behind the ball will prevent you from transferring the right energy into your kick. At the same time it would make your accuracy do downhill.

    Weight training

    Another sure shot way of getting your kicks to improve in power, is to hit the gym and work on your leg muscles. The more mass you have in your legs, the more power you will be able to transfer with each kick.

    The ideal workouts to do in order to build leg mass are squats and leg presses. These exercises help you develop core strength in your leg, and this can prove to be highly beneficial out on the playing field, when you have to kick the ball as hard as you can, and as far as you possibly can.
