How to Improve Speed and Force in Boxing

There are two things which will help you winning a boxing match. First one is the speed and then you need to have the force to knock your opponent down. By combining these two, you will be able to get some amazing results no matter you are involved in a street fight or in any sport.

Some people will advise you to focus only on speed, as that is the key in any fight. There is no doubt that you will have to be swift while delivering the blows to your opponent, but you cannot afford to ignore the power factor. You will have to practice these things together in order to defeat professional boxers.

Instructions

    Focus on speed first

You should always take speed and force separately, when you are practicing. However, you should not step into a boxing ring unless you have perfected both things and know how to deliver them against the most skilful rivals. The ideal thing would be to gain speed first and then focus on improving strength in your arms.

    Buy a speed bag

You will easily find a speed bag from a sports shop, which will help you improve the efficiency of your moves. It is light in weight and helps you make the muscles more flexible. Simply hang it somewhere in your house and hit it continuously for as long as you can. If you are a starter, you will be unable to practice on the speed bag for more than 5-10 minutes. However, you will be able to improve this time gradually.

    Buy dumbbells

If you don’t have the speed bag, you can buy dumbbells too. Simply lift them in your hands and start punching in the air repeatedly. This will help you improve the speed as well as the force simultaneously. You can start off with lighter weights first and then go onto increase with the passage of time.

    Buy a heavy bag

Other than using the dumbbells, you will be required to buy a heavy bag in order to improve the force. Make sure you are relaxed before starting the practice. You can listen to any song or watch a movie before that and then start hitting the heavy bag with force. At the start, you will not notice any bigger improvement, but things will start getting better with the passage of time.
