Make your mind your saviour
Your mind plays a key role in determining your attitude. Therefore, it is important to focus on it when you are aiming to improve your attitude. Moments when you find yourself gradually succumbing to depression and find negative thoughts creeping into your head are the best opportunity to train your mind. Analyse the feeling deeply and convince yourself that things are not as bad as you think. Remind yourself that you yourself are the key to make your life seem brighter.
Never make comparisons
One of the worst things that you can possibly do to yourself is to compare yourself to others. Unfortunately, this is somewhat of a human nature and therefore everyone is guilty of indulging in this crime at some point. By comparing yourself to others, you end up killing your own happiness. You become so busy observing what others have that you end up ignoring the blessings God has bestowed on you. Every time you find yourself comparing yourself to someone, use your mind power to stop right there.
Learn to love yourself. This includes loving your body, loving your personality and loving who you are. It is okay to get inspired by others, but never start trying to be completely like others, as you will only end up comprising the real you in the process of becoming a photocopy of someone else. To have a positive attitude towards life, you need to have faith in yourself and your capabilities. Valuing yourself will automatically make others value you.
Optimism is one of the strong tools that a human possesses. It can be used to transform even the most hopeless of situation into an opportunity, grief into strength, darkness into light, and so on. Always be positive and stop negative minds from taking up space in your mind. When things are refusing to go your way, just remind yourself that there is always someone who is facing far worse than you.
Know your limitations
Learning and accepting your limitations will keep you from becoming over-ambitious and therefore save you from disappointment. You cannot do everything. Nobody can. Just focus on improving what you can do and if there is something that you really want to do, give it a short, though be strong enough mentally to deal with failure and disappointment.
Honesty is the best policy
Speaking the truth will keep your conscience clean and earn you a lot of respect from your peers. Lying can have a negative effect on the mind, unless it is used to save someone from trouble or prevent someone from getting hurt.
