The Vodka Gimlet Cocktail is a simple, stylish and refreshing to drink. Gimlet Cocktail has a multihued history according to which it was purportedly made-up by a British naval doctor, Thomas Gimlette. He came up with this amazing invention during his efforts to convince his fellow seamen to drink their required allotment of lime juice to stave off scurvy.
The traditional Gimlet Cocktail is made with gin and fresh limejuice, but like so many other drinks, gin was replaced by vodka in order to enhance the taste.
A few well-known celebrities highly thought of the Gimlet Cocktail to such a level that they are known for it. Author Raymond Chandler, author of The Long Goodbye, purportedly rephrased a scene in one of his famous novels to take in this amazing cocktail in a bar scene after having experienced one on a vacation with his wife. The original recipe of Vodka Gimlet Cocktail was published by the great writer Eric Felten in his "How's Your Drink Column" in The Wall Street Journal Weekend Edition of August 4, 2006.
